Indian navy conducts AA & SSR examination for candidates to join Indian Navy as a sailor, twice a year. AAs are technically educated for the design of ships and submarines and SSRs are those who work on the naval ship and also act as a helping hand. The first and the most important phase of the examination is online test and candidates will have to clear this computer-based test to qualify for the next phase of the selection process. There is no such difference in the test paper of both these trades.

|Educational Qualification||AA/SSR: Intermediate Examination with 60% Aggregate Marks and Mathematics, Physics with One of the Following Subject Chemistry / Biology / Computer Science
|Selection Procedure||Stage-I Online Exam.
Stage-II Physical Fitness Test (PFT).
Stage-III Medical Examination.
Stage-VI Merit List Announcement.
|Training||For AA/SSR: Candidates selected will undergo 22 weeks Basic Training at INS Chilka followed by Professional training in the allotted trade.|
